“The West was a laboratory of identity for American. This is the place where we became a people unlike the people we were in Europe. This is the place where we became mythic in our mind.” - Ian Frazier. In his famous essay “The Significance of Frontier in American History”, Turner stated that “The West, at bottom is a form of society, rather than an area.” (Turner, 1893). Further, he explained that the West gradually lose the touch of the “Old World” – a phrase referring to the Eastern Coast of America society- and formed its new own identity. The Old World customs which was brought to America and lingered in the East Coast, had evolved to be a new customs of the West. The vast geographical distance from the early settlers in the East Coast, along with the environmental and social condition of the West itself, helped to create the new identity which is different from the ‘mother culture’ brought from Europe.
